283 Candidates invited under Ontario’s New PNP Draw

On February 2, 2021, 283 immigration candidates in the Express Entry pool were invited to apply for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

Express Entry is an online application system that allows aspiring skilled migrators to submit their profiles under three federal immigration programs;

  • Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP),
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Based on factors like age, experience, educational qualification, language ability, and other factors, candidates are awarded points that make them eligible to apply for Canadian immigration.

When receiving a nomination from one of the Provinces, aspiring migrators who have submitted their profiles in the Express Entry Pool are awarded 600 additional points. As candidates having 400 points or above, have been receiving Invitation to Apply (ITA), a nomination which adds 600 points under PNP ensures that the nominated candidate will be receiving Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in the succeeding express entry draw.

In 2020, Ontario invited the largest proportion of all the Express-Entry linked PNP nominations and invited more than 6500 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through the Human Capital Priorities stream.

The invited candidates have Comprehensive Ranking System scores between 466 and 467, and through OINP, they will have the opportunity to settle in Ontario permanently. All the PNPs are focused on filling skill shortages in the labor market by bringing skilled immigrants to various provinces.

The OINP systematically explores the Express Entry pool to invite candidates meeting Ontario’s stream eligibility criteria. Potential express entry candidates are issued with Notification of Interest (NOI). Further, candidates have to submit an online application within 45 calendar days that they qualify for OINP.

Candidates with work experience of at least one year, listed in one of the 10 occupations, were invited via Express Entry Pool under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The invited candidates will not be applying for Permanent Residence but Provincial Nomination and will be served with an opportunity to apply for immigration in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

Following are the 10 occupations under which candidates received nominations for OINP:

· Banking, credit, and other investment managers

· Advertising, marketing, and public relations managers

· Other business services managers

· Corporate sales managers

· Financial auditors and accountants

· Financial and investment analysts

· Human resources professionals

· Professional occupations in business management consulting

· Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses

· Business development officers, marketing researchers, and consultants
